Golovchenko: Belarus-Oman cultural contacts grew stronger against all odds

14.10.2024

Belarus-Oman relations in the cultural sphere developed against all odds, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with the Crown Prince of Oman and Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko recalled that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko came to Oman on an official visit in 2007. “Since then, we have had very consistent, friendly relations. Unfortunately, we were not able to bring all our plans to fruition due to unfavorable international developments, including the pandemic, the economic crisis, disruption of logistics chains. Yet, cultural contacts developed against all odds,” said Roman Golovchenko.

The prime minister noted that history museums or national museums of Belarus and Oman exchanged their expositions. Belarusian dance groups toured Oman. A production by the Belarusian Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater was presented on the stage of the Royal Opera House.

“The cultural heritage of the two countries is very rich. I am sure that the Days of Omani Culture in Belarus, which we are looking forward to, will be a real treat to Belarusians,” Roman Golovchenko added.

According to the Belarusian head of government, it is necessary to maintain and scale up cooperation between ministries and departments in the humanitarian and cultural sphere and establish direct contacts between museums, theaters, and sports organizations of the two countries.
