Lukashenko took part in unveiling of the monument to Metropolitan Filaret
The monument depicts the Metropolitan meeting and blessing the residents of Minsk with the cross of St. Yevfrosiniya Polotskaya.
A team of authors led by sculptor Andrei Khotyanovsky worked on the creation of the sculpture, funded by the national budget.
“As during the life of Filaret, the President brought today a bouquet of white roses liked by the Metropolitan,” writes the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel.
As is known, the Belarusian Head of State treated the Patriarchal Exarch very warmly; he was a spiritual mentor and a good friend for Aleksandr Lukashenko.
