Belarusian short film wins 1st Alanya International Film Festival

The Last Chance, a short film directed by graduate of Belarusian State Academy of Arts Igor Vasilyev, was second to none at the 1st Alanya International Film Festival. The Last Chance is based on the real story of the coach of Sergei Rogozhin, Soviet equestrian and Olympic champion who died in an accident during the competition in Kostroma in 1983. Reeling from the death of Sergei Rogozhin, the coach blames himself for his death.

Shot by Belarus’ national film studio Belarusfilm, scripted and directed by Igor Vasilyev, operated by Dmitry Kostyliov, the movie stars Anatoly Guryev, Alexander Yefremov, and Irina Soroka. Belarus presented three motion pictures in Alanya: the feature film Traces on Water, the kids movie Incredible Journey by Alexander Anisimov, and The Last Chance that took the first place in its nomination. The Belarusian delegation comprised such renowned Belarusian actors as Alexander Kashperov, Alla Prolich, Viktor Vasilyev, directors Alexander Anisimov and Igor Vasilyev. Powered by the Turkish Ministry of Culture, the festival ran from 22 to 30 May. It brought together representatives of many countries. The event is advertised by the organizers as a celebration of goodness, love, and freedom.
